Reconciliation
This Country
Who's going to say
Sorry?
I am sorry that You have lost
Expanse Freedom Religion
But it is natural is it not
for people to explore and claim?
I hear the chanting mixed with earth
I know the connection: land and people
I feel the igorance ... history tests
Our Earth is One
The first people
are here to share
Are you ready to receive?

On you Janaki!
How to reconcile oneself to an openness to difference and otherness when there is a lack of such openness in the (dominant, political) culture in which one finds oneself? That for me is the hard task of reconciliation at the moment. And I am only wronged in a small way (voiceless among the Machiavellian strategists) - in comparison to the magnitude and time of the Aboriginal people's having been wronged...
I agree, Doris. As usual, I am responding from my personal point of view. Can't seem to separate myself sometimes, from the many Indigenous Australians I know. Why doesn't it surprise me that you also might have some challenges to face in the system?!! Never give up - it's just so good that people like you are in there!
I was not so much thinking of personal challenges I face in the system - but I do love your support anyway!
I was suggesting that I was wronged in a small way in so far as that the view I take on Indigenous Australians doesn't get much mainstream airplay.
I think there is so much that is remarkable to their sense of time and place; so much that disturbs and disrupts our ways of thinking and theorising.
This from a window in to such a small amount of contact in comparison to yours.
In speaking of Machiavellian strategists I was thinking explicitly about John Howard shifting his stance on his Indigenous policies in the lead up to the election, and wondering what statistics made him think that would be a good pose to strut.
I so prefer your response - from a personal point of view, and from such a wealth of personal contact.
All strength to people like you - in the system. Here's hoping that old system has room for change!
Love and love
